Digitrax
  Complete Train Control
In all my years using Digitrax on my layouts I found it excellent and reliable. Digitrax offers a range of products and accessories that allowed me to operate multiple trains, lights, sounds, signals, and other features on MRWAIN. What is really good about Digitrax is LocoNet and that was a game changer for me. Digitrax allows me to have two separate networks, one being ThrottleNet and the other BoosterNet. The two never come together.
Train Control
: Digitrax allows me to run multiple trains simultaneously on the same track, just like the prototype. Each train can be controlled independently, giving me the flexibility of running multiable scenarios at once.
Expandability
: Digitrax's system is modular, allowing you to start with a basic setup and expand as your layout grows. You can add more components and features by simply plugging them into the network.
Computer Integration
: Digitrax can be integrated with computer software like TrainController which is my choice for MRWAIN.
Digitrax offers a wide range of equipment for model railway people like me. Here are some of the key products I use on MRWAIN.
  1. Command Stations: These are the brains of the DCC system: As part of  MRWAIN I have one(1) DCS100 command station..
  2. Throttles: Handheld controller used to operate MRWAIN.  DT400.
  3. Decoders: Installed in locomotives to control motor functions, lights, and sounds. I have numerous decoders, some of which are Digitrax.
  4. Boosters: These provide additional power to the track. I have three(3) DB150 command station/boosters but only configure them as boosters.
  5. Detection and Signaling: I have a number of  BDL168's and SE8C's to help MRWAIN with train detection and signaling.
  6. Universal Panel: UP5.
  7. Stationary Decoder: DS64 decoder I use to control my tortoise slow motion machines. Have about a dozen of them.

SE8C
Signal Decoder
1
I have a number of SE8C Signal Decoder boards that provide the prototypical signaling to my layout.
The SE8C can drive as many as 32 signal heads with many popular LED signal types.
It can also be used to control up to 8 slow motion turnout machines as either turnout control or control for semaphore type signals.
With Plug 'N Play ability, adding additional accessories to provide signaling to a layout has never been easier.

BDL168
Occupancy Detector
The BDL168 can monitor up to 16 detection zones on your model railway.
Occupancy Detection: Monitors 16 sections and indicates local detection section occupancy.
Transponding Capability: When used with RX4 transponder detectors, it can manage up to 8 transponding zones.
Power Capacity: Each detection section can handle up to 3 Amps.
Compatibility: Works with Digitrax DCC systems and can be configured with most other DCC systems.
Plug 'N Play: Easy integration with Digitrax DCC systems

DCS100 Replaced by DCS240
Command Station/Booster
1
The DCS100 Command Station controls up to 120 locos and 120 throttles.
It has full read/ write programming, route capability, and a separate programming output so you can run and program at the same time.
I have had one for many many years and cannot fault it.

Command Station/Booster
DB150 5 Amp AutoReversing DCC Command Station/Booster is basically a cheap version of a DCS100.
The DB150 is the base command station/booster for the Super Empire Builder.
I have a Super Chief system and 3 DB 150's configured as boosters placed throughout the layout.

DS64 Stationary Decoder

The DS64 is my choice for points (turnouts) control.  The decoder accepts commands from LocoNet command stations, throttles and computer's (via LocoNet). Each decoder used on MRWAIN is configured to Control 4 slow motion machines.

DT400 Throttle
replaced by DT602

With the DT400 throttle you can control two locos at a time. You can run trains and consist, control up to 12 functions such as sound.
Program decoders, set up and operate routes.

UP5 Uiversal Panel replaced by UP7

If like me you don't have a radio network for the railway you definitely will need
a few of these located around the bench work to accommodate tethering of the throttles.
